Functioning basics
BOULDER-BUSTER is a device for controlled demolition that utilizes propellant technology. The wave of shock and pressure is generated in the device by a cartridge filled with a mixture of propellants. The shockwave that derives from it is conveyed by means of an exit barrel on a column of non-compressible fluid (water or gel) (hole in the rock filled with water).
The positive result of this system resides in the propellant technology.
The characteristics of the propellant and the cartridge design allow the rapid development of a pressure wave (transmission in very short time). This impulse of pressure transmitted on the column of fluid acts on the micro-fractures produced during the drilling.
The static pressure developed by the propellant produces another force that translates itself into the fracturing of the rock.
